Video Department Supervisor
Allstar is looking to hire a new member of our video department. This person will be responsible for the maintenance and organization of our wide variety of video equipment as well as providing planning and consultation services to our sales people.
What You’ll Be Doing
Responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining equipment with the aid of our in-house service department
- Prepare and pack equipment for shows
- Check and return equipment from shows
- Maintain a ‘big picture’ view of the video department
- Design video systems for sales people based on customer requirements
- Produce pre and post-production material for/from shows
Some of our equipment includes:
- Professional cameras
- Projectors from 3,800 to 20,000 lumens
- Powerful media servers
- Thousands of square feet of LED video panels 4mm and up
- Broadcast grade switching, processing and recording equipment
- Adobe video editing suite
This is a permanent fulltime position in our Edmonton location. Hours would be roughly business hours, but the position would require flexibility and overtime in busy periods. There is also a large potential to go out on shows as a video technician, setting up, operating and dismantling equipment. Regional travel is a possibility too.
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate for this position would have skills and experience that might include:
- High degree of computer knowledge and understanding (everything is computer based these days…)
- Experience in the live event production business
- A television/broadcast background
- Graphic and video design skills
- Understanding of the different formats of analog and digital video (SDI, DVI, HDMI, etc)
- Strong desire to learn and ‘push the envelope’ with new technology
- Self motivated
- Excellent communication skills
